Restaurant Business Plan Template

To start a restaurant, one needs to come up with a business plan to outline an efficient and cost effective way to run the restaurant which in turn can impress the loan officer as well.

The business plan template for a restaurant consists of several key headings which include Executive summary, marketing, historic analysis, organizational structure, restaurant operations, risk management and financial plan.

The template begins from the executive summary which consists of business goals, their description and formation along with their identity and philosophies. It also consists of the character, location, main objectives, directors and the management team of the restaurant. The key positioning of the restaurant along with the strategic alliances and sales summary are also under the executive summary.

The marketing portion consists of sales estimates, analysis current product mix, market analysis along with marketing goals and strategies. The pricing policies and competitive research are also to be including in the marketing section while being presented to the concerning authority. The advertisements and promotions schemes should be detailed in the plan itself.

The organizational structure should consist of management and personnel along with administrative organization and a contingency plan. The restaurant operations should also be mentioned quite clearly which include its identity, location, premises and layout.

The plan should also include a risk management section which lays out the exit strategy and risk reduction plans which might come in handy in case of bad times.

Also the financial plan should include the investment budget along with statistical data and financial projections.

Health Insurance Plans for Restaurant Workers

The restaurant industry employs millions of Americans. These workers are more likely than most to be uninsured. There are several reasons for this.

First, many waiters, waitresses, hostesses, etc. earn minimum wage or less. It is difficult enough for employees earning $ 7 or $ 8 an hour to afford health insurance. A lot of states have a separate minimum server’s wage that is slightly over $ 2 an hour. The remainder is expected to be covered through tips. While some working in upscale establishments receive high gratuities that sum up to far more than the minimum, the average server at a casual chain restaurant often suffers from a series of slow nights.

Most restaurants–like many small businesses–do not offer health coverage to their employees, due to the high cost and low margins. As a result, up to six million employees are uninsured at any given time. Some employees may be eligible for Medicaid due to their low pay (and healthcare reform will loosen those requirements), but the significant population of undocumented immigrants are not.

Fortunately, a high percentage of employees in this industry are young and relatively healthy. They are therefore an attractive population for health insurers; they become part of a larger risk pool that helps cover the older and sicker population. Their premiums can also be relatively low.

Restaurants in Pennsylvania are taking this advice to heart, establishing the Restaurant Health Care Alliance. The National Restaurant Association has partnered with United HealthCare to offer affordable health insurance plans to nearly half a million workers.

The state’s governor, Ed Rendell, is fully supportive of this initiative.

It will provide restaurant owners and employees alike with more coverage options, allowing for continued growth and job creation in the industry. For its part, United HealthCare’s Northeast Region CEO vows to offer tailored Pennsylvania health insurance programs for restaurants.

Mooyah Restaurant Chain Shakes it up with Projectmates Construction Management Software

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 10, 2012

Systemates, Inc. today announced that fast casual restaurant chain MOOYAH, home of the Better Burger and no dud spud, will leverage Projectmates construction management software for its rapidly growing franchise chain. MOOYAH is among the top movers and shakers in the restaurant industry with over a dozen restaurants under construction currently and 50 to 60 new restaurants expected to open later this year across the U.S.

Projectmates puts the organization of our data on steroids, said Tom Pritzkau, Construction Director at MOOYAH. It will impact our ability to provide data and communicate with our stakeholders while providing our entire staff with the ability to do more work efficiently with less time spent.

Projectmates stands apart from other construction project management software for restaurant construction when it comes to ease of use, flexible configuration, and cost tracking business process automation. For example, single-page project summary reports provide project updates with critical vitals so high-level stakeholders as well as franchisees quickly get the pulse of their projects without having to navigate through complex software.

MOOYAH will use the construction management software for the entire restaurant construction process, from the time a franchisee and site are selected though design, construction, and restaurant grand opening. As a central information hub, Projectmates will even house training guides for food preparation and store maintenance.

With new restaurants opening across the country, MOOYAH will also leverage the mapping feature in Projectmates. Projects can be tracked geographically on a map with the ability to filter by region, project manager, and franchisee. Not only that, MOOYAH will be able to pinpoint visually those projects that are complete, in progress, and overdue.
