Take a close look inside any service business startup, and you’ll very often see the same picture. An owner/operator stuck balancing the drive for new business and getting existing business serviced, all the while trying to pay the bills and answer phones. One of the recurring themes that you’ll hear from us at the How to Start a Cleaning Business Blog is the importance of putting systems in place early on so that all parts of the business function smoothly whether you’re there or not.

Every aspect of the business needs to be systemized in the company’s infancy so that down the line you’re offering a consistent product at a reasonable price, growing your business steadily without pulling your hair out, and getting paid to do the work that you’ve just finished.

Here are three of the most vital areas of the cleaning business startup that need to be systemized when the doors open.

Develop a marketing strategy

Many cleaning business entrepreneurs immediately shy away when we begin discussing marketing. It’s one of the areas that they know they need to dial in and focus on, but don’t have a clear enough picture of what should be happening with marketing to take control of it. We’re not saying that you need to spend vast sums of money on marketing here. But before you spend $ 1 on ANY form of marketing or advertising, you need to understand your demographic and your market so that once that first marketing dollar leaves your wallet, you can effectively evaluate whether or not it was money well spent. You’re never going to get it right each and every time you employ a marketing strategy. That’s why you MUST be able to evaluate your efforts.

Develop an operational checklist

It’s an inevitable situation. You start the business cleaning properties yourself along with your two trusty employees. Then you get the call that your child is sick and needs to be picked up from school. You leave your two fantastic employees to finish the last three houses of the day and that evening, the calls start to come in. They missed the master bathroom at the Jones house. They completely forgot the kitchen counters at the Smith residence. And guess who gets to go back and literally “clean up the mess” tomorrow. Yes, you do. An operational checklist is absolutely critical in the cleaning industry. When you go to McDonald’s do you think they just guess at how long to cook your fries or what they’ll put on your hamburger for toppings? No, they don’t. They deliver the same product each and every time. And you must do that as well in order to manage and meet customer expectations.

Employ a communications strategy

Far too many cleaning business owners are coming close to the edge of sanity each and every day trying to balance operations and coordinating communication with prospective customers and existing clients. There is no excuse for this in the year 2010. With email, websites, and web based phone systems as easy to set up as they are now, there is no excuse for you taking each and every customer question, quote request, and follow up call while in the field. You need to put a communications strategy in place and then ensure that your customers and prospects know the appropriate channels to communicate with your business.

At the How to Start a Cleaning Business Blog, we’re confident that taking the time to think these strategies and systems out in advance will save you much frustration and time once you’re off the ground with your cleaning business. We’ve seen these simple principles in action and they are incredibly effective.

Social Media Real Estate Marketing E-Book Offers Hope To Stressed Real Estate Market

Valencia, CA (PRWEB) February 10, 2010

Its no secret that many struggling Realtors have given up in the past few years; in fact, National Association of Realtors’ numbers show that their ranks have shrunk 11 percent since the peak of the market in 2006.

However, there is hope for those who are willing to use new methods of real estate marketing . Real estate broker, Naomi Trower has discovered a new way to market her business using social media, and shes been so successful at it, she has written an ebook outlining her methods step by step. The book, Social Media Marketing: Market Your Real Estate & Mortgage Business Using The Power of Social Media, is available at http://NaomiTrower.com/ebook .

I have seen so many people leaving our industry during the past 3 years, so that prompted me to look at alternative cost effective strategies to market our business, Trower explained. The past 2 years I’ve integrated internet & social media marketing into our marketing strategy, and I have had so much success using these strategies to increase my business even in these troubled economic times, that I wanted to share that success with everyone in the real estate market.

Trower found that using sites like Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube has proven to be an extremely cost effective way to market her services. It also provides her with the opportunity to reach a huge new audience who she might never have been able to reach with expensive traditional methods of advertising.

Her ebook shows how anyone can strategically grow their Twitter following to tens of thousands; how to come up with the social media marketing plan thats right for them; how to build up fans for their Facebook business page; how to ensure that their blog is not just found in search engines, but ranked highly; and many other valuable insights into using social media to find more customers and make more sales.

I’ve been able to obtain 15 to 20 new leads per week with the use of these social media strategies, and I can show everyone the exact steps that Ive used, according to Trower.

Trower, a social media strategist, avid blogger, and entrepreneur, is a real estate broker in the state of California. She owns Premier Equity Group, Inc. & Premier Realty Group. She has a team of real estate agents and mortgage consultants.

In addition to being a real estate broker, she enjoys helping others achieve real estate and business success.

If you are on social media, then marketing campaigns need to be much more than just getting more people to like your brands. You need to make sure to create an experience for your customers online for them to recommend your brand to their friends and followers. There are a number of companies which have been able to successfully create a personalized experience for their customers. Regardless to say, they have been able to draw more people to their businesses and have been able to successfully raise their sales scores.

When it comes to social media, the marketing strategy needs to be much different than conventional mediums. What you need to do is ensure to create a dynamic community of fans who are highly interactive and recommend your profile to their friends and followers. Here are the essential tips –

Social media marketing plans must keep audience in the center of the effort. Online media marketing is very different than the rest of the marketing medium and as a marketer, you need to respect that. Hence, make sure to create a plan specifically made for online media. Where are the key changes that you need to make in case of social media marketing?

The first and the foremost point is in feedback collection. There are a number of companies which consider social media to be just another marketing medium and are thus, failing with their marketing efforts. What you need to do is make sure to carry out a campaign that is ready for the huge surge of feedback that will come with every post of yours. The next point that you need to figure out is customer servicing. There are a number of companies which shy away from joining digital media because they don’t have the infrastructure to cater to the customer queries that will arrive from the social media channels. If you are one of them, then remember, you need to be absolutely clear about your priorities here.

Not having a online media account may expose you to some serious loss of face for your brand. Dedicate a small department that is always focused on creating a positive brand impression online and on various social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. Social media marketing plans can only be successful if they have a wide support from the ordinary public. In the modern world, one needs to ensure that conventional marketing efforts are declining. Social media marketing is the way forward for companies large and small.
