At the Proposal Project stage the Project Managers are given the task of ascertaining the cost and the plans for accepting a proposal and they are often known as Proposal Managers. And when the project is won either they have very limited or no authority in managing or working out even the basic framework in achieving the desired goal. The project execution usually doesn’t fail due to technical glitches but due to lack of expertise of the people working on it.

The main reasons behind the failure of a project is poor leadership, poor or lack of teamwork, unclear roles and expectations, no encouragement, conflicting priorities etc. By meeting and understanding the various types of people and engaging them according to their potential the hurdle of management problem can be resolved and a project manager should have this quality.

These days more importance is given to understand employee’s personality and its behavior at work because individual employee’s character can become conflicting to one another many a times which can delay in achieving the desired goal. Most teams should work together and their collective efforts and collaborative steps help in the execution of any project in any organization and at any work place. By understanding the individual’s weaknesses and strengths in a team work the influence on the success of achieving the goals of an organization becomes very high.

We should stop dreaming of having a perfect and a faultless project team in an organization. I had the opportunity in the past to handle many projects and the main drawback I have experienced is that the project teams are always assembled and designed at the project proposal research stage. Though my interference was very limited for replacing with the ones who were no more accessible for the projects but I still believe by building a project team and working together the common goal of the organization can be achieved with very less difficulty.

Many a times or at many instances it was observed that more friction is experienced between the line management and the project management rather than forecasting the sources for a project completion. Starting resource necessities has the advantage of saving time if prepared well in advance and helps in execution of the project well in time. But many a times there are unforeseen circumstances during the project implementation and changes made in the projects resource necessities can give you an unexpected surprise.

If the line management is clearly specified and informed about the resource requirements by the project managers it is very unlikely to develop any confusion or conflict in achieving the desired target. The functional management should also be informed side by side of any changes taking place. At the beginning of the project a detailed manpower loading diagram and resource recruitment plan should well be prepared and any updates should be clearly mentioned in it during the project execution.

When there are multiple projects for execution in a company conflicts or differences of interests are for sure cannot be avoided entirely especially when a new project preparation proposal pops out in between. It is necessary for the project manager to keep informed the functional management and define its team members the relieving date when the project is near completion. The team manager or the project manager cannot retain its team members on a weekly basis or ‘Just in Case’ manner.

County of Ventura Standardizes Construction Information Management with e-Builder Software

Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) March 27, 2012

e-Builder, the pioneer of web-based construction program management software, announced today that the County of Ventura, California, has selected e-Builder Enterprise to more efficiently manage their construction program information, communications, and executive reporting. Initially, the Countys Engineering Services Department will leverage e-Builders Cost, Processes, Scheduling, Reporting, and Documents modules for their vertical construction projects (fire stations, hospitals). Following the initial implementation, other departments, including Water and Sanitation, Transportation and Watershed Protection, will leverage the software later in 2012.

The primary goal for County of Ventura County is standardizing all construction program management, cost tracking and reporting. The Engineering Services team is currently managing 27 projects in all phases from planning through construction, including a $ 200 million hospital replacement project. They realized the benefits of consolidating the vast amount of information generated by these projects with e-Builder, and using integrated reporting capabilities to aggregate data into a broad range of project reports and executive dashboards. Automatically distributed to Countys management teams, these reports will provide a single-point of visibility into the overall status of the Countys projects. Management teams will then easily track availability of funds, potential cost exposures, cashflow requirements, and accurate forecasts of projected cost to complete.

Phil Nelson, Director of Engineering Services, believes e-Builder will help control the flow of information and communications during a projects lifecycle. As a result, Nelson expects a streamlined and improved audit process. We will benefit from the flexibility to customize and generate executive reports, as these will help us be more transparent said Nelson.

Jonathan Antevy, e-Builder CEO, commented we are experiencing a lot of interest from government organizations looking to enable a more structured and reliable approach to managing construction projects, especially those financed by federal and state funds.

Mooyah Restaurant Chain Shakes it up with Projectmates Construction Management Software

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 10, 2012

Systemates, Inc. today announced that fast casual restaurant chain MOOYAH, home of the Better Burger and no dud spud, will leverage Projectmates construction management software for its rapidly growing franchise chain. MOOYAH is among the top movers and shakers in the restaurant industry with over a dozen restaurants under construction currently and 50 to 60 new restaurants expected to open later this year across the U.S.

Projectmates puts the organization of our data on steroids, said Tom Pritzkau, Construction Director at MOOYAH. It will impact our ability to provide data and communicate with our stakeholders while providing our entire staff with the ability to do more work efficiently with less time spent.

Projectmates stands apart from other construction project management software for restaurant construction when it comes to ease of use, flexible configuration, and cost tracking business process automation. For example, single-page project summary reports provide project updates with critical vitals so high-level stakeholders as well as franchisees quickly get the pulse of their projects without having to navigate through complex software.

MOOYAH will use the construction management software for the entire restaurant construction process, from the time a franchisee and site are selected though design, construction, and restaurant grand opening. As a central information hub, Projectmates will even house training guides for food preparation and store maintenance.

With new restaurants opening across the country, MOOYAH will also leverage the mapping feature in Projectmates. Projects can be tracked geographically on a map with the ability to filter by region, project manager, and franchisee. Not only that, MOOYAH will be able to pinpoint visually those projects that are complete, in progress, and overdue.
