Writing A Business Plan Template

The first 18 months of your business is very risky. Survey says that almost thirty percent of all small businesses fall within the first two years. This is the deciding point if your business will be effective and if it will last. With this, you have to make a business plan to ensure that your business is given the greatest chance of success.

There are websites offering assistance in making a business plan template. A good business plan template has two basic parts: narrative and financial worksheets. The narrative part of the business plan contains the details and the strategies. It is subdivided into various sections. Create your business plan in a systematic way to avoid missing out some points. The financial worksheets in the other way consist the budget for the business plan to work out. Remember that the purpose of making a template is not to hasten the result of your business but thinking about your business in a more intelligent and smart way.

The first step in making a business plan template is to make a rough draft. Make a note of all the ideas and concept you want to incorporate in your plan. If it happens that, you have a business partner, it is important to talk to him or her with your plans.

The next step is to make a systematic and professional narrative. This will include all the ideas and concepts but in a more systematic flow. While doing this, you will be more involve in your business in a critical way. Some think of this as a waste of time, but creating a business template will help avoid making poor decisions that could lead to the failure of your business.

When making your business plan template, you should start by writing the name and the details of the owner or owners of the business. After, you may follow it with the table of contents. A basic business plan template contains executive summary, a general description of a company, the products and services offered by the company, marketing plan, operational plan, and the management and organizational structure. On the other hand, the financial part consist the financial statement, startup expenses, and capitalization details of the plan.

Using A Blog For Small Business Marketing

Blogs are an old idea coming full circle and back into the new age thing to do as a business. There a couple of reasons for blogging, some people actually make a living from just writing and keeping a blog on their favourite content. While a business owner should be using a blog for a completely different purpose.

A blog is a site either internal or external from your website that has a variety of content, links, photos, videos about a particular topic. It is content that allows your followers to become informed.

Blogging is just another tool in your business toolbox and your marketing strategy and should be treated as just as important as other marketing techniques.

Blogs for business provide an opportunity for you to educate your prospects, provide value to your customers or clients and show the world how good you are at what you do. It builds your profile.

A blog is also a great way to get people to follow you, to generate excitement and spread your message virally.

So lets start with some basics of a blog… You can get a blog either as part of your website or external from your website with programs such as blogger.com or wordpress.com. Having a blog as part of your website is more desirable as you can then send people from your blog to other parts of your website. It also provides traffic to your website which search engines like and therefore rank your website higher. However if you don’t have a website, not a problem just go and grab one of those free blog sites.

Now the purpose of a blog should be to interact with your community of prospects, customers and anyone that wants to follow you. You should be providing good valuable content and it should help your community in some way. Blog that are all about selling are never very successful and people get sick of going to them. Your blog should be interactive, it should have the ability to be shared through social media circles and it should have the ability for people to leave comments on and interact with you.

Blogs can be time consuming, however by having a blog and blogging weekly it does keep you and your business top of mind with your prospects and it also allows them to build a relationship with you.

Keys for a successful blog include mixing up your content, using video’s, photos as well as articles, linking your social media to your blog and vice versa, being consistent and producing content on a regular basis (this is sometimes a hard thing to stick to as it is often pushed to the bottom of the pile as it’s not seen as a money making activity – trust me it is)

So why not take a look at your blog and see what fun things you could do to keep people around and talking about your business!

Small Business Marketing Ideas

There are many traditional ways of marketing your product or service. These include word of mouth or simply putting out a sign in your store. And although we are not saying that these are ineffective, we always encourage people to use more drastic measures. The economic and business landscapes these days are very cut-throat; the competition is getting fiercer and fiercer as time passes. This is one of the greatest reasons why small business marketing must not be faced sitting down. In fact we encourage marketers to come up new and exciting ways to market and promote their product; as innovation always seems to garner some amount of attention and manages to separate one’s brand with the rest of the pack. Here are some other promotional tools that do not break the bank but are very effective.

One such promotional strategy that is often left forgotten is posting on the yellow pages. We know it sounds like an ancient promotional strategy, but surprisingly, a lot of people still look numbers up on the yellow pages. The key here is simply printing the right ad on the right spot. Make sure that your ad catches attention and is listed where it is supposed to be categorized under; not on some random page. The same goes for newspaper advertising. Newspaper advertising is actually one very cost efficient way to advertise as several people throughout the day will probably be passing around the newspaper. This means, a lot more people will have a chance to see your ads. Direct mail is another suggestion that is still effective, even though it is often thought of as superfluous and old. The personal touch it adds to the whole experience allows for people to actually take time to read the ads you send them.

Some other promotional strategies you can try to give your small business an edge is advertising on a magazine, which people keep a longer time than newspapers and flyers because they actually cost a considerable amount of money.

This means, as long as the owner of the magazine has it in good condition and displayed for other people to read, you may still get your money’s worth of advertising. You may also try posting ads in e-zines, which is always lucrative since there is a seemingly unending stream of people who use the internet day by day. Business cards and fliers are also good ideas, as long as they are distributed well, executed correctly, and get to the right people. The key here is advertising where your target market can access it.
