Stephanie Leffler and Ryan Noble, Co-founders of CrowdSource, Named Finalists in Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Program

Swansea, Illinois (PRWEB) May 08, 2013

Ernst & Young annually recognizes business leaders whose contributions inspire people with their leadership, vision and achievement. Each finalist from the Central Midwest region in this year’s Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards program grew their individual company’s employment numbers by over 12% in 2012 and revenues by 24% between 2010 and 2012.

“The Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards program has a longstanding history of honoring the best of the best in the business world. We are honored to be recognized alongside so many outstanding entrepreneurs,” noted Leffler, co-founder of Juggle.com.

Juggle’s co-founders Stephanie Leffler and Ryan Noble fit the bill for a leadership tandem that successfully develops long-term strategy and seizes growth opportunities. Leffler and Noble founded Juggle.com in the spring of 2008. As opportunities were recognized, they quickly grew Juggle.com from a reference resource website employing 10 team members to an umbrella company housing three successful tech companies: CrowdSource, ROIMedia and ClickableNames.

Noble and Leffler have since built a talented, creative internal team of 50+ members who are dedicated to building websites, software and services to help businesses save time and money. “We are continually motivated to find ways to leverage speed and scale to solve internal business problems,” noted Noble, co-founder of Juggle. “The ability to remain forward-thinking and strive to make process improvements is a daily goal within our company.”

Leffler has been previously honored as one of the Saint Louis Business Journal’s Most Influential Business Women and was a nominee in the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012. In 2004, Noble was profiled as one of the St. Louis Business Journal’s “30 under 30” young entrepreneurs.

10 Steps To Planning A Memorable Hen Party

Have you been given the honour of planning a hen party? If so, this 10 point guide is here to help you create a memorable event.

1. Think about what the hen likes and what she doesn’t. While you may want to organise a few surprises, it is still important that she has a good time, so don’t feel you can’t ask her for input.

2. Consider who will be coming along and what will be to their tastes. For instance, if the hen’s mum is coming, she may have different expectations to that of her daughter’s friends.

3. Discuss ideas with other guests and decide on an outlined plan for the day and/or evening.

4. If you’re going on a night out as part of the hen do, you need to choose a town or city that you can go to. This may be your local town or it may be a city your friend has always wanted to visit.

5. Once you’ve decided on a location, you need to start scoping out venues. You may want to stay in one place for all or most of the evening. Alternatively, you may want to visit a few different places.

6. If you want something specific from the evening, such as a bar that serves cocktails, make sure you check that the venues you’re looking at can provide it.

7. If you want food, get menus for the bars and restaurants you’re considering and make sure it fits into your respective budgets and is to your liking.

8. Once you’re happy with your choice, get in touch with your list of invitees and tell them your plan for the evening. Get rough numbers of who is planning on coming along.

9. Contact the venues and check availability for the date you have in mind. Provide rough numbers to secure the booking or pay whatever deposit is required.

10. Let all the invitees know what the plan is and ask them for payment as soon as possible. It can be costly if they don’t pay up on time, so be prepared to chase them.

If you’re organising a hen party, make sure you find the perfect hen party venue for you and your friends.

Why not visit Revolution-Bars.co.uk to get some hen party ideas and make a booking, so that your best friend gets the perfect hen do event.

Home Building Quotes – Whoa! First Things First – What You Must Do Before Getting That Quote

Ready to build your dream home? How do you get from the dream to the bottom line… the cost to make it happen?

I can certainly empathize with you in your desire to know what a home building (or remodeling) project will cost before you get too far along in your planning. After all, you don’t want to plan for something that you cannot afford or for which you are not willing to put out the money.

The Preparations Leading to an Accurate Home Building Quote

Here are the steps to take in preparation for getting an accurate General Contractor quote for building your home. It will take some time and it will involve industry professionals. I advise people to take most or all of these steps. In the long run, it’ll pay off in spades.

1) Understand the real estate market where you will be building your home.

Each real estate market has its own flavor. Each market has its building styles and general labor cost range. You must know your market and know how your home will fit into it and know what uniqueness you want to achieve.

2) Make decisions about the general quality you want in your home.

The quality you put into your home will be reflected in the cost to build it. Will you build your home with low-end fixtures, finishing, and structural materials? Do you plan on high end materials? This decision will have a huge effect on the eventual bidding and quoting process. Decide early on!

3) Find a house plan or floor plan that is close to what you want.

At this stage in your preparations, you should find a floor plan that also shows what the exterior looks like. What you’re looking for here is a fairly close replica of what you want to create.

These will not be complete. You’re just looking for a reasonable facsimile.

4) Get a general idea of the cost per square foot to build this type house in your market.

Your next step is to get a basic idea of the cost to build based on what you know so far. Knowing the market, the size and style, the quality and the lay-out, you can now talk with industry professionals to get a rough estimate of the cost per square foot to build it.

Some of the professionals you might speak with include: Architects, builders, real estate agents that work closely with builders, structural engineers, and developers. If you speak with enough of these professionals, you will get a decent idea of the potential cost to build.

5) Have blueprints created by and architect or purchase a complete set of house plans.

Armed with the approximate cost per square foot, you now know if your project is feasible. At this point it’s safe to either buy a full set of blueprints or go to an architect or residential designer to have the blueprints created to your specifications. Make sure the blueprints are complete and specify materials choices and follow building codes.

6) Create a detailed “take-off” (which is a complete materials list) from the set of blueprints.

This materials list will assist you or your builder in pricing out the complete package of materials for the home. Some of the materials will be provided by various subcontractors so be aware of this and don’t add these up twice!

7) Get at least three complete home building quotes from General Contractors.

Once you’ve taken all these steps, you can now get your building quotes. By preparing in this way, you’re going to get better bids and you won’t be comparing apples to oranges. Every contractor will understand exactly what you’re after.

Use the Same Process for Major Remodels

With minor adaptations, you can use this same process to get accurate quotes for a major remodel. With smaller home improvements, you can omit a lot of these steps. For instance, an upgrade to your bathroom will not likely require blueprints or General Contractors.

But, a major remodel or home addition will likely require blueprints, materials take-off lists, and someone to manage the entire project. So, the same attention to detail and proper preparation is critical.

Take your time. You’ll feel in control of your project. And that’s a great feeling!

Human Resource Mnaagement Case Study

The field of Human Resource Management has embarked upon a process of significant change.  This article presents an effort that changed the HR educational model from a functional silos focused model to an integrated outcome-based model.  The logic for the change, what changes were made, and comments about the outcomes are presented.  The competitive landscape is changing, and new models of competitiveness are needed to deal with the challenges ahead.  These responses reveal a new competitive reality demanding organizational capabilities that will enable firms to better serve their customers and to differentiate themselves from their competitors.  The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) presents a knowledge model as a recommendation for every HR professional.  The SHRM model recommends that every HR professional should have: (a) knowledge of his/her business; (b) an understanding of HR technology; (c) ethical behavior and the demonstration of personal credibility; and (d) knowledge of traditional HR needs and delivery.  The linkage between these components and the strategic contribution of HR also needs to be understood.

Ideally, this article will start discussion and perhaps fan the flames of change.  The curriculum changes presented were developed with input from a variety of stakeholders.  The list of stakeholders includes HR professionals, current students, and students who graduated and started working in HR or management positions within the last several years.  In addition, the authors relied upon: (1) one author’s work experience as an Organizational Development specialist with a global retailer;  (2) routine contacts with HR and management professionals in the business communities; (3) service with the local Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Board of Directors; and (4) service with a global provider of Human Resource Information Systems, (HRIS), and Supply Chain information systems – both of which are subsets of Enterprise Resource Planning, (ERP), software systems which are used to run entire organizations.

When we began this process, our curriculum was composed of the traditional list of courses with each one focusing on a subset of the traditional HR toolbox: (a) Introduction to Human Resources; (b) Compensation & Benefits; (c) Staffing, Recruiting, & Selection; (d) Training & Development; and (e) a Special Topics course.  Students took four of the courses of which one was a required prerequisite.  Although our curriculum did not, some curricula also include an HR Information Systems component to demonstrate how data can be used to make hiring decisions, to track training courses taken, and to help manage placement of people based on their skills.  As with any new curriculum it is vital that assessment be completed to determine if the modifications have been successful.  Much to the delight of the people that hire our students, the new curriculum seems be helping us to develop new HR employees with desired competencies.  The most often mentioned positive feedback shows that our students understand the big picture and how to strategically partner with top management to develop, implement, and interpret HR metrics.
