SunDown RunDown Brings Events and Workshops to New Albany Business Incubator

New Albany, OH (PRWEB) February 13, 2014

The City of New Albany’s business incubator, Inc@8000, and New Albany based SunDown RunDown Group are collaborating to create new workshops, showcase events, and expand the New Albany Chapter of SunDown RunDown’s successful evening business idea pitch series to help attract and retain new ventures, connect entrepreneurs, and engage the community.

“It is exciting to begin working with Inc@8000 and New Albany to help entrepreneurs build their businesses and see them grow.” – Paul Proffitt, Founder

SunDown RunDown will be creating a series of monthly workshops, called Lunch & Launch, focused on relevant business issues facing startups and small businesses. Guest speakers from local industry and higher education will be sharing their most recent research and findings. Topics will range from finance and marketing to ideation and customer discovery. These workshops will occur during lunch and provide a great opportunity for professional development and networking.

SunDown RunDown will also host a quarterly open house / venture showcase at Inc@8000 to engage the community and show the talents of local entrepreneurs working to turn their idea into a reality. It will be a celebration of the hard work and innovation exhibited often in this entrepreneurial community.

SundownRundown was formed in March 2013 as a monthly event series designed to provide a venue for central Ohio entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas to investors, mentors, and talent. Since then, the company has expanded to independent chapters in Akron and Mansfield Ohio; launched the Venture Resources Network to allow entrepreneurs to share and trade their skills or develop business relationships so that entrepreneurs can assist each other; and is in the process of raising a small venture capital fund for early stage ventures.

New Albany, Ohio, is a master planned community of 8,000 residents located fifteen miles northeast of Columbus, Ohio’s capital city, and ten miles from the Port Columbus International Airport. New Albany’s pastoral setting, timeless architecture, world-class amenities and attention to detail offer an exceptional quality of life for its residents. New Albany is also home to one of the largest master planned international business parks in the Midwest, featuring dual feed electric power and fiber optic capabilities for companies of all sizes.

Jobhuk.com a Crowdsourcing Platform for Hiring Which was launched at SXSW 2013 is Now One of the Hottest Start-ups in Austin,TX

Austin,TX (PRWEB) March 15, 2013

It is never less exciting for start-ups launching at SXSW. This year one of the startups Jobhuk.com, launched at the SXSW Startup Spotlight, has become the new buzzword on the street. Jobhuk.com says they are on a mission to disrupt the human capital space with “CrowdSourced Hiring.”

Their revolutionary recruiting platform is focused on hiring through crowdsourced referrals. Jobhuk leverages human network, the crowd, around the world to support and get best referrals for employers trying to hire best resources. It benefits employers avoiding all regular spam they experience in their hiring process. The crowd gets incentives as heavy as 1%-15% of the gross salary, as a Finders Fee set by employers for each successful hire.

Jobhuk’s has two side for it, First, “Hire by Referral” reveals that all applicants must be referred by a Jobhuk user, defined by anyone with a LinkedIn, Facebook, or simply an email account. Second, “Refer and Get Paid” means that the referring Jobhuk users gets paid finders fee when their referral is hired.

Praneeth Patlola, founder of Jobhuk.com has spent several years in the staffing and recruiting industry. He knew there was a better and more efficient way for companies to find great candidates. Recruiting firms charge commissions of up to 30%, a very costly endeavor to gain access to a relatively limited candidate pool. Online hiring platforms often charge high fees and produce unqualified talent and spam with no guaranteed results. 90% of team he has built was based on referrals to whom he says, he paid a decent amount of referral fees. He spent years searching for the best recruits, experimenting with various methodologies to source qualified candidates. After much trial and error, Patlola identified referrals as consistently the best recruits and most likely to become successful hires. He says, everyone, including himself asks the same question to friends, friends of friends, family members, and co-workers, “Do you know anyone who would be a good fit for this position?” The unveiling of Jobhuk allows employers to ask the same question, but now in real time, to tens of millions of Facebook, LinkedIn, and other network users.

Corrective Laser Introduction

Hi everyone, this article is the first in my journey to learn as much as I can about corrective laser eye treatment prior to me (hopefully) being able to get my eyes lasered at some point in the future. Now the understanding of all there is to know about corrective laser eye surgery is not my only problem at the moment – while I learn I will also be saving up because this is not a simple process and is not too cheap – several hundred or even thousand dollars / pounds.

Now as I say I currently know next to nothing about laser eye surgery. So this is the start of my journey, if you know something about it yourself, you are probably best going over to my site as this is simply an introduction. Hopefully as my learning progresses, so will the site!

So what have i found out so far? Well there seems to be a particular technique called PRK (Photorefractive keratectomy) that is doing the process manually to some extent with the surgeon using the laser. This seems to be the first version of the process. This was then improved with a process called LASIK which came out a few years ago and is a much more automated process, although PRK does not use a knife!

Basically the shape of the eyeball (or cornea) is altered to change the focal length. Bits of it are burnt away by a cool laser.

There is another more advanced process called wavefront (or custom LASIK) which maps the contours of the eye a lot more fully to give you a much more rounded and focussed vision throughout the eye and particularly benefits those people with large pupils and very poor night time vision (even better than eating carrots!).

I myself have astigmatism which is going to have an effect on the type of surgery I can have, but hopefully the results will be a lot more spectacular for me – many of these techniques actually give you great eyesight as soon as the process is completed although there is some post operative time when you have extra sensitivity. The only other symptoms of note for most people after the operation are things like dry eyes and blurry vision – but these are rare (along with some other visual aberrations) and on the whole will correct themselves over time.

There is another process called LASEK, again this is an area I need to learn a lot more about in order that I understand it (I’m not even sure at the moment whether it is a mis spelling of the first one!). LASEK is much closer in process to PRK than LASIK is, the main difference being that the PRK procedure removes the top layer (epithelium) whereas in the LASEK process, the epithelium is lifted and replaced after the laser has done its job.

The benefits of laser eye surgery is that it gives a lot of people 20/20 vision or better. Now I’ve never really looked into what that actually means – 20:20 vision, so this is something else I am going to have to understand – there is also the possibility of getting better than 20 20 vision – I know that sounds weird to me too. A simple definition of 20/20 vision is that at 20 feet from away, a typical human eye can differentiate lines that have a spacing of 1.75mm. 20/40 vision is half as good whilst 20/10 vision is twice as good – although that is a bit of a rough description!

So why don’t you join me on my little adventure of trying to find out more about this crazy process of getting corrective laser eye surgery in an attempt to stop wearing glasses and contacts and be able to go outside in the cold and rain without steaming up or needing wind screen wipers for my glasses!

I am researching all there is to know about corrective laser eye surgery. For more information please visit my corrective laser blog and leave a comment, or read another article on corrective laser introduction here.
