Business Startup Support

Launching a new business can be a lonely journey and if you have a lack of support in your household, it can feel even lonelier. I’ve seen a greater number of brand new small business owners, who feel as though they are all on their own, even though they have a family and are in partnered relationship. Even if you are not presently in a personal partnership you may feel the need to seek relationship support from close friends and family members. In either case you may be been surprised by what appears to be the lack of unconditional support.

The key to a successful startup may be in lining up your support and solidifying a structure of support before your small business launch. It’s challenging enough to fight the many battles of entrepreneurship. Thus it can be completely draining to come home to your sanctuary and have to further defend your business to those who care about you.

If you need relationship help now, you’ll still need it while building your business but then there will even more pressure on all fronts. Everyone is familiar with a couple that tried to solve their relationship problems by having a baby. Did it work for the couple you knew? No? Then why would birthing a new business improve your relationships?

If you have weak personal relationships that drain your energy, then your focus will be lacking. Without a strong focus, your decision-making, personal productivity and inspired actions will all suffer.

What can you do? Talk about the challenges pre-startup and ask for the support of those who love you. Be very specific in asking for that support by making agreements.

Relationships are built on agreements kept.

For an agreement to be kept it must serve all parties, be clear understood by all and be written down for clarity.

If you don’t have strong spousal support or unconditional support in your close relationships, you first need to understand them from their perspective.

When a life partner cautiously advises you not to venture out on your own, they are not questioning your ability or resolve to succeed.

They are only speaking from the perspective of their own fears.

They could fear having less time with you. Your initiative could be forcing them to face their own fears of success, of failure or of never being authentically fulfilled in their work. And of course they could be thinking about having less money and how that affects the household budget.

Good personal relationships are essential to making good business decisions. If you are fighting battles both at home and in the marketplace, you will lose on both fronts.

If you’re considering starting a small business, first repair or end non-supportive relationships.

Make agreements that serve you both and honor them.

The Conference, “Build or Flip: Why and When? A Unique Look at the Medical Devices and Healthcare Services Sectors,” focused on key issues facing investors and entrepreneurs today – whether to build early-stage ventures for the ‘long haul’ or a quick sale; how to best attract and successfully engage with exit partners; and, trends and developments within the rapidly-changing markets for healthcare device and service technologies. Panelists included founders of successful Health IT and life sciences ventures, as well as industry heavyweights from organizations including Johnson & Johnson, McKinsey, Bain Capital, Bank of America, Becton Dickinson, Telcare and more.

“Partnering with LSAN offers an opportunity to be a part of the most dynamic industry conversations, as well as direct access to a wide network of active investors,” said weMultiply Managing Director Lena Feygin. “Milena’s team, as expected, has created an engaging program featuring some of the top names in the industry.”

“By leveraging its network of active sales channels, weMultiply identifies and invests in ventures with a high probability of rapidly securing institutional clients,” said weMultiply Managing Director Jesse Williamson. “This approach both accelerates the implementation of innovative health technologies, and mitigates a key risk associated with early stage healthcare investments. Fleksy Keyboard App Now Available on Google Play, Updates Beta with Multiple Language Support

San Francisco (PRWEB) December 05, 2013

Fleksy, the future text input company, today launched the Android version of its virtual keyboard out of beta on Google Play. The company also released a new Android app in beta to support new languages, as well as released a major iOS update in its race to be the first third-party keyboard on the Apple platform.

Available on Google Play for $ 3.99 with a 30-day free trial, Fleksy lets individuals type faster than any other virtual keyboard by not having to concentrate on hitting specific keys that are often too small for their fingers. Through a set of patent-pending Artificial Intelligence algorithms, Fleksy looks at the relative locations its users touch the screen, and interprets the word they want to type. This approach frees users to type without having to look at the screen, ultimately letting them type faster than they would otherwise. This unique approach is what allowed Fleksy to be the first virtual keyboard to work on a smartwatch, the Omate TrueSmart, which has an even smaller touchscreen surface area than smartphones.

Fleksy also released today a new version of its Android beta that supports new languages. Additionally, Fleksy made a recent update to its iOS app in preparation for the upcoming Fleksy SDK release. The new update includes a faster engine, new user interface and an option to minimize the keyboard or have it completely invisible. The upcoming SDK release will allow iOS developers to implement Fleksy in their app, allowing users to replace the standard iOS keyboard for the first time.

“When we started Fleksy we wanted to bring the best typing experience to all smart devices with a touchscreen,” said Kosta Eleftheriou, Fleksy founder and CEO. “Our team has been working extra hard to get to this moment. Exiting beta, launching the new languages and preparing for our iOS SDK puts us in a great position to accomplish our vision on both Android and iOS.”

Fleksy can be downloaded on Google Play here and the App Store here. Individuals interested in joining the Android beta to test the new languages can do so here. Developers interested in learning more about Fleksy’s SDK should contact the company here.

About Fleksy

Fleksy revolutionizes typing on smart devices through patent-pending predictive text technology that works on all device sizes. Fleksy is the first keyboard app to be demonstrated on a 3D gesture system (Leap Motion); the first to be demonstrated on a smartwatch (Omate) and the first to arrive to iOS. Fleksy’s award-winning design and technology is backed by venture capital firms like Highland Capital Partners and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

"Black Girls CODE" Earns $100,000 in Crowdfunding Support For African American, Latina, and Native American Girls to Become Programmers of Tomorrow

San Francisco (PRWEB) July 24, 2013

With four days to spare, a young technology nonprofit broke through their $ 100,000 crowdfunding goal on Indiegogo, thanks to a wave of major support from tech entrepreneurs and companies including: Craig Newmark of Craigslist, Mitch Kapor from The Kapor Center for Social Impact, Rackspace, TripAdvisor, and Zendesk. Other leaders who gave personal contributions to the campaign included Alexis Ohanian (Reddit, Breadpig), Robin Chase (Buzzcar, Zipcar) and Kathryn Finney (digitalundivided).

At 9:10 PM on Monday, July 22nd, the campaign was pushed over its goal by David S. Rose, Founder & CEO of Gust and one of the country’s leading angel investors.

“Gust was delighted to be able to put the ‘Summer of CODE’ campaign over the top with a significant contribution,” said Rose. “Black Girls CODE is showing the world that girls of every color have the skills to become the programmers of tomorrow.”

These leaders have collectively pledged over $ 50,000 to the campaign, joining nearly 900 giving in the range of $ 5-500.

Black Girls CODE Founder Kimberly Bryant said, “The response from both the tech industry and our grassroots supporters has been amazing. Crowdfunding is inspiring, because every gift, be it $ 5 or $ 10,000, really does make a difference when they come together for collective impact. Our campaign shows the growing support we have in the community at large for our work to diversify the tech industry by introducing girls of color to computer programming.”

The funds raised will provide student scholarships, instructor stipends, and laptops. Contributions will also seed funding for Black Girls CODE chapters in eight markets nationwide, which will provide ongoing educational opportunities.

In 2011, Kimberly Bryant founded Black Girls CODE to increase the number of women of color in the digital space. Black Girls CODE is the only program targeting African American, Latina, and Native American girls in cities nationwide with training in mobile app development, game and web design. Black Girls CODE has already served more than 1,200 girls in cities across the United States and in South Africa.

Black Girls CODE will host a crowdfunding countdown mixer at tech space Hub Oakland Friday, July 26th 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM located at 1423 Broadway Street Oakland, CA 94612. Community members and techies are highly encouraged to attend the mixer to continue rallying during the last hours of its campaign: http://bgccountdown.eventbrite.com/

Translia.com Offers Support for Crowd-Sourced Game Translation and Localization

Hong Kong, CN (PRWEB) May 14, 2013

Translia.com offers cost-effective game localization services that enable developers to enlist the support of their own user base to make their games available in many different languages around the world. It means that developers no longer have to rely on translation agencies or game localization companies that both are more expensive than crowd-sourcing translation services and with limited resources are more likely to take a longer time. Translia.com’s game localization and translation services offer developers the chance to both control their costs and to make their games available in a wide degree of languages as quickly as possible. This will enable them to reach previously untapped markets for their games around the world.

Increasingly, game developers and publishers seeking to market their games to multilingual audiences have been recognizing the value of an untapped resource that can aid in game localization: their own community of users. Even games that are published only in English can attract a user base from around the world due to the widespread knowledge and usage of the English language. What developers realize is that however effective game localization vendors or translation companies are at their work at the end of the day they are going to charge more and be less involved with the product then the company’s own users. This is why game developers have sought to crowd-source translation services.

When a company makes the decision to rely on their own user base to translate their games, they need to do several vital tasks. They need to assemble a group of dedicated multilingual users who are fluent in the target language, and they also need to have a system for managing the translation process.

This is where Translia.com’s collaborative translation offerings come in. Translia.com offers a power patent-pending collaborative translation platform that allows game developers and publishers to organize their translators and implement the workflow of the game localization and translation process. This streamlined workflow can ensure that the work is completed as quickly and efficiently as possible, with multiple translators working on the job at the same time, greatly accelerating the speed of the turnaround cycle.

The Translia collaborative platform offers many features including ease of ability to post work, communication tools, community resource management, as well as the ability to calculate the compensation for translators, whether it is cash, in-game rewards, prepaid game cards, or a combination of all of them. Translia.com’s revolutionary platform allows developers to quickly and efficiently market their games in numerous different languages around the world.

Translia.com was founded in 2009 and is located off of Hong Kong, China. They are an online translating company that focuses on providing accurate and timely translation for their clients. They are a privately owned company and are growing as a successful online translating service. They re-launched in March 2013, and now offer a ton of new features and benefits.
