Elliott Broidy Brings a Voice to Homeless Youth by Scoring a Vancouver Screening for Critically Acclaimed Film Sugar

Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) September 26, 2013

Elliott Broidy has made further inroads to bring youth homelessness to the forefront in cities where the issue is most prominent. The movie ‘Sugar,’ for which he served as an executive producer alongside Director Rotimi Rainwater, will be screened during Homelessness Action Week in Vancouver from October 13th to 19th. Elliott Broidy, film financier, was instrumental in arranging the screening.

As an international city with a growing homeless population, Vancouver matches the profile of other cities where ‘Sugar’ has either been or will be screened. Such cities include Austin, Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles.

The value of adding Vancouver’s Homelessness Action Week to further boost the movie’s profile was noted by Elliott Broidy, who commented the venue was ideally suited for the socially relevant film, according to a press release on September 23rd. Reel Causes, a British Columbia non-profit society, helped facilitate the screening. A slew of events throughout the week will complement the showing and also shed further light on homeless issues.

‘Sugar’ is an independent film that follows the struggles of a young woman living on the streets of Venice Beach, California. The small budget film has improbably enjoyed several successes to build mounting fanfare in advance of nationwide release in November.

These accolades have included the ‘Film Heals Award’ at the prestigious Manhattan Film Festival in July and an innovative funding campaign to feed homeless youth on the crowd funding site Indiegogo.

The momentum has been welcomed by Executive Producer Elliott Broidy, who stated that films such as ‘Sugar’ deserve the opportunity to succeed, as noted in a July 13th 2013 news release about the ‘Film Heals Award’.
